MEXICO CITY - The effects of global broker consolidation are being felt in Mexico, where multinational brokers have strengthened their presence in recent years by buying interests in local companies.

In some ways, Aon Corp.'s purchase of Alexander & Alexander Services Inc. and Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc.'s takeover of Johnson & Higgins are fostering a market response in Mexico similar to one that has emerged in the United States, said Alexis Marquard, international director in Mexico City for Bourchier, Marquard, Zepeda Agente de Seguros S.A. de C.V., one of Mexico's larger retail commercial brokerages.
