Aug. 7--The struggle to control lucrative nude dancing in downtown Minneapolis has turned nasty as new competitors begin to threaten the old.
Schiek's Palace Royale, the granddaddy of the Twin Cities so-called "gentleman's clubs," apparently has no intention of letting a formidable rival roll into town from Houston and take the club's customers and dancers away.
So Schiek's is in Hennepin County District Court, trying to stop Rick's Cabaret, a publicly traded Houston company that recently received permission from the Minneapolis City Council to open one block from City Hall.
