SIR JOHN HALL, the man who first brought Alan Shearer back to Tyneside, today backed the returning hero to apply the "Keegan effect" . .
And rescue Newcastle from the brink of oblivion.
Hall, who signed the pounds 15m cheque which brought Shearer to St James's Park as a player, described him as "the only man to manage Newcastle United".
Hall's fellow former Magpies chairman and boardroom ally Freddy Shepherd also hailed Shearer's return, but fears ...
