ONE of the country's top golf clubs claims it can exclude women from becoming members, because men are entitled to associate only with men if they so wish.
The Equality Authority has gone to the Supreme Court to challenge Portmarnock Golf Club's policy of refusing to admit women members.
Three years ago the High Court ruled that the club was allowed to continue preventing women from becoming full members.
As matters stand, women can play at the club but they are not allowed to become full members.
