Originally from New York, for the past two decades percussionist Bobby Matos has been nurturing his brand of Latin jazz out of the city of Los Angeles, California. By the beginning of the '90s, Bobby Matos had established himself as one of L.A.'s prime exponents of Latin jazz music. He and his band, the Afro-Cuban Jazz Ensemble, have traveled mucho miles throughout the nation spreading their blend of music, a volatile compound of traditional jazz sensibilities as well as its more contemporary forms and the rhythms and instrumentation's of Afro-Cuban music.
