In an early February report by the forensic architecture firm Howard Zimmerman Architects concerning the recently converted residential building 140 West 22nd Street, a technical associate with the firm found cracks in the property's base level structural beams and missing fireproofing on exposed steel supports. "Based on our observations, it is our professional opinion that the existing situation presents potentially unsafe conditions to building's inhabitants," Marco Muhaysin, the associate, stated in a letter outlining the problems.
