House OKs tax-credit bill to help auto suppliers
Struggling auto suppliers receiving state tax credits would get a lump-sum payment under legislation approved by the Michigan House and heading to the Senate.
The proposal would give auto suppliers who receive multiyear Michigan Economic Growth Authority tax credits all the money up front before 2011. The credits now in many cases are provided over a decade or more.
The legislation is designed to give auto suppliers a cash infusion and give them an incentive to consolidate their operations and keep jobs in Michigan.
