"Prisoner of Second Avenue" is a play of comedic angst. The tension starts as soon as the action begins, and it is unrelenting until the final curtain.
This Neil Simon play, which starred Peter Falk on Broadway and Jack Lemmon on film, is not a "fun" comedy.
The main character suffers a nervous breakdown, he and his wife are robbed, they both lose their jobs, and they experience constant stress because of their neighbors.
The action starts in the middle of a heat wave in Mel and Edna Edison's New York City apartment.
Mel (Barry Lew) can't sleep, and he is suffering ...
