Given the opportunity presented by electronically-controlled pneumatic (ECP) brake communications technology, what kind of health/safety monitoring sensors might piggyback on the ECP system? A partial wish-list might include devices to check bearing heat and vibration, car weight, truck warp and truck hunting, brake shoe wear, brake force, ride quality, impacts, wheel wear, wheel/car derailment, lading security, dragging equipment, internal temperature/humidity, health of cushioning units, and general maintenance information.
