Days after Larry Cantrell was crushed by the compactor of the garbage truck he was driving, one Sanipac employee said the accident is a deadly reminder for drivers to turn off truck engines when completing a routine but potentially dangerous task of cleaning the compactor blade area.
Cantrell on Monday was finishing a route in northeast Eugene, where he had worked for more than 28 years, when neighbors found him dead, crushed by the compactor in his truck.
The accident has caused Cantrell's son, Paul, to raise questions about the truck's safety mechanism, which is supposed to prevent blades from moving ...
