Days after Larry Cantrell was crushed by the compactor of the garbage truck he was driving, one Sanipac employee said the accident is a deadly reminder for drivers to turn off truck engines when completing a routine but potentially dangerous task of cleaning the compactor blade area.

Cantrell on Monday was finishing a route in northeast Eugene, where he had worked for more than 28 years, when neighbors found him dead, crushed by the compactor in his truck.
