Trident Microsystems, Inc., a developer and marketer of integrated circuits, said that it has signed a definitive deal with Micronas Semiconductor Holding AG to acquire selected assets Micronas' Consumer Division, with a view to expand its reach into the home consumer semiconductor market.

Under the terms of the deal, Santa Clara, California headquartered Trident will acquire products, technology and intellectual property used in Micronas' FRC line of frame rate converters, the DRX line of demodulators and all of the Micronas audio processing products.
