ATLANTA--Aug. 26--Oh for a big alternative to Big Brown.
That's the resounding refrain from businesses large and small in the wake of the Teamsters' 16-day strike against United Parcel Service, which ended Wednesday.
While the strike was disastrous for many small businesses and more of a hassle for large customers, it underscored the fact that there are precious few alternatives to the Sandy Springs-based delivery giant when it comes to ground delivery of smaller packages. Really no alternative if you factor in cost and the company's sophisticated technology that allows customers to track packages and see who signed for them.
