Sep. 1--YAKIMA MUSIC NEWS WAS ONE COOL-LOOKING WEB SITE. Assembled by music-loving Net-heads in Yakima, Wash., the page combined concert listings and music-industry links with attractive visual elements that included red-on-black Japanese characters.
There was only one problem -- the design appeared to be a copy of a Twin Cities site, Minneapolis MusicScene. Even the Japanese lettering seemed identical.
"I was thoroughly annoyed," says ChriShawn Lee, who operates MusicScene with partner Conal Garrity.
