The Greek and Turkish Cypriot leaders were scheduled to meet on 28 July to discuss what were described as humanitarian issues. President Glafcos Clerides and Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash met in New York State earlier in July, but this would be their first meeting on Cypriot soil in three years.
