Fans of French Roquefort cheese are feeling blue these days about a 300 percent tariff that takes effect April 23 and is expected to triple the price and essentially close the U.S. market. One Roquefort variety already is selling for $71 a pound in Los Angeles.

The Jan. 13 tariff hike was among the last acts of the Bush Administration, which also raised tariffs on French truffles, Irish oatmeal, Italian sparkling water and foie gras.
