When offered the opportunity to direct "A Streetcar Named Desire," I was both terrified and exhilarated. How often does one get to direct one of the greatest plays in American dramatic literature?
The play won both the Pulitzer Prize and the Drama Critics Circle Award and was made into a memorable motion picture with Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh. This is a pedigree daunting to live up to.
