Formed in 1950, Western Business Machines of Saskatoon has been through a management buyout (MBO) more than once.
Founded to sell the latest in office equipment, things like typewriters and adding machines, WBM was taken over by Brian Fitzgerald and Garry Hardy in its 35th year. Hardy's brother, his sister-in-law and two other employees executed another MBO in late 2008, the company's 59th year of operation.
Now known as WBM Office Systems with offices in Saskatoon, Regina and Calgary, it continues to sell the latest in office technology. But typewriters and calculators have been replaced with things like laptops and phone systems.
