Color ink-jet printers produce stunning, photo-quality output for under $500, but they're not ideal for all uses. If you want high-quality color output com- bined with workgroup-level performance, you need to consider a color laser printer. The latest model s--the Xerox DocuPrint C55mp, the Lexmark Optra SC 1275n, and the Tektronix Phaser 560--produce vibrant 600-dpi color output on plain paper and can crank out monochrome pages at 12 to 14 sheets per minute (color pages at 3 to 4).
