Federal stimulus money will allow Madison County officials to double the size of a summer youth employment program and provide tuition for training out-of-work adults.
Madison County Employment and Training Director Lorraine Schmidtka is expecting to devote $420,000 from the economic stimulus package to train residents of all ages for jobs that will make sense when the economy rights itself.
The funding can't come fast enough. The office processed a record 2,066 visits in March. So far this year, the office has had more than 5,300 visits, with clients coming to meet with counselors, use computer terminals to ...
