Q Is the state planning to increase premiums for Child Health Plus insurance?
A Under the new state budget, the state Legislature is increasing monthly Child Health Plus premiums for moderate income families by 50 percent on July 1.
Child Health Plus is a state insurance program for children under age 19. Premiums are based on family income and household size. Families with incomes 2.5 to 3 times the federal poverty line -- or $55,125 to $66,150 for a family of four -- will see premiums rise to $30 a child, a $10 increase.
