Remodeling nowadays is often a facelift to modernize, but renovation of venerable old buildings is a science of sameness -- using everything in the architect and contractor arsenal to keep the decades past intact.
The 1940s adobe house remodeled by Wayne Rutherford Contractor Group is one case in point, as is the "D.H. Lawrence bathroom" built by Tony Luhan at the Mabel Dodge Luhan House.
