Article: Licensing agreement for thin ceramic membranes for solid oxide fuel cells.(FUEL CELLS)

A licensing agreement, which will enable ENrG Inc, based in Buffalo, New York, USA, to produce thin ceramic membranes with suitable properties for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), has been signed. The technology will allow for the production of electrolyte supported fuel cells with extremely thin profiles, high thermal cycle performance and high durability.

The ceramic-based membranes are made from yttria-stabilized zirconia and are thin enough to be used in electrolyte-supported SOFC designs, or other oxygen transporting membrane applications. In addition to being thin, the ceramic-based membranes are also strong enough for handling, patterning and thermal ...
