Apr 09, 2009 (FinancialWire via COMTEX) -- April 9, 2009 (FinancialWire) (By Philip Holmes) -- U.S. life insurance firms will be getting some relief courtesy of the U.S. Treasury, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. Bailout funds available under the Troubled Asset Relief Program will be extended to life insurers. Insurance companies could previously only receive TARP funds if they had a banking unit. Investors also took in some quarterly earnings data with a "glass half full" approach.
