TROY, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 16, 1997--MapInfo Corporation (NASDAQ:MAPS) today announced plans to support DB2 Universal Database with a SpatialWare Extender which will allow DB2 users to directly access geographic spatial information from a single database source. DB2 Universal Database allows the storage and handling of complex data types within the relational database. Using DB2 and SpatialWare, an organization's spatial and alphanumeric data can coexist within the same database environment, ensuring that security, privacy, updates, backups and recovery procedures for both data types are synchronized.
