Sep. 13--The 35,000 Tri-City members of Group Health will start using Kennewick General Hospital nearly exclusively next month.
On Friday, Group Health Northwest announced it will negotiate a three-year contract to send all Tri-City patients to the Kennewick hospital, except for emergencies and for a few specialty services. Group Health says it's the largest health insurer in the Mid-Columbia.
Currently, Group Health members can use any of the three Tri-City hospitals, including Kadlec Medical Center in Richland and Our Lady of Lourdes Health Center in Pasco. Each of the three hospitals bid on the contract.
