Royal Dutch Shell (RDSa.L) has shut a 33,000 barrels per day (bpd) residue catalytic cracker at its Singapore refinery since last week due to catalyst problems and is expected to restart it around April 21, industry sources said on Thursday.
The long residue catalytic cracking (LRCC) unit cracks straight-run residues into gasoline and fuel oil using catalysts at the oil major's 500,000-bpd refining complex on Bukom island.
"It's a gasoline-making unit, which has been down since last week. The impact will be on gasoline supplies," one trader said.
