President Obama has chosen Turkey to be the first foreign country in the state visits of the new US chief executive. He is due in Ankara on April 6. Iraq will be high on the agenda of his talks with the leaders of Turkey, which ruled Iraq and other parts of the Greater Middle East (GME) as well as a part of Europe and North Africa during the centuries of the Ottoman Empire.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul visited Iraq on March 23-24 and called for greater co-operation from Baghdad and the KRG in preventing the PKK rebels from launching cross-border attacks. His was the first visit to Iraq by a Turkish head of state in 33 years. Gul became the latest in a series of ...
