Elgin Community College presents the latest in performance poetry during the seventh annual Poetry Slam from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 15. The free event is held in the Advanced Technology Center Auditorium on the main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.
Poetry slam, a competitive event during which poets perform their own work and are judged by selected members of the audience, puts a dual emphasis on writing and performance, encouraging poets to focus on what theyre saying and how theyre saying it.
