Something has shifted in government, for the worse, with regard to children's rights and family rights. The tone of law now seeks to orphan all family members from each other, then adopt all with the government as THE PARENT--this is the doctrine of "parens patriae".
"Parens patriae" (Latin for "father of the people" or "the state as parent"), is a doctrine that once served the good purpose of allowing the state to intervene in parental decisions affecting minor children in cases where there was actual harm.
