David Surette is a master player of fretted instruments. His latest CD, The Green Mandolin, explores a primarily Celtic repertoire for the mandolin family. It also takes a few side trips, including selections from the Breton, Swedish and French Canadian traditions.
The CD opens with "Devanney's Goat/ Pigeon on the Gate," played on multiple citterns. The harmonization of the tunes is particularly lovely.
