Label printer thirst on waterless offset printing. (includes related article on pressure-sensitive labels for wine packaging)

Tapp Technologies of Langley, British Columbia, Canada, and Covey Run Vintners of Zillah, WA, have gained worldwide prominence. Tapp produced the labels for a Merlot wine produced by Covey, that won "Best in the World" honors in the 1997 World Label Assn. competition. Tapp applied a version of waterless offset printing on pressure-sensitive labels that satisfies the high-resolution and label application formats required by many packagers.

Printer wins world label recognition for wine label printed by the waterless offset process, which uses silicone plates, hollow-core rollers and specially-formulated UV inks. Winery prefers p-s labels over cold-glue labels.
