It was fantastic to read that preparations for Africa's greatest sports spectacular are on track. The success of the Fifa 2010 Soccer World Cup will go a long way to finally dispel the notion that Africa lacks the forethought, organisation and capability to host such an event.

The progress in preparing the 10 stadiums where the matches will be held is reassuring. However, speaking to South Africans, the remaining doubts are less about hotel capacity than the country's transport infrastructure.
