The managed care model, in its simplest form, is the application of business principles to the delivery of medical services which are both effective and efficient. This "savior" of rising health care costs, however, brings to the table multiple daemons of paradox when people with disabilities are affected. Any model of healthcare delivery applied to people with disabilities should ideally address issues of independence and inclusion. A paradigm which usurps the decision making power of people with disabilities is fundamentally an oppressive and non-inclusive model.
