IN just over a week two spy scandals have usurped the headlines. The most recent involving Cape Judge President, Judge John Hlope, read: "Hlope also obtained leaked spy evidence'". Last Monday the acting National Director of Public Prosecutions, Advocate Mokotedi Mpshe, presented transcripts of phone taps on former Scorpions head, Leonard McCarthy, (and Bulelani Ngcuka, former NDPP head) as evidence of alleged political manipulation of the corruption case against ANC president, Jacob Zuma.
In the same week, Somali pirates threatened to kill an American ship's captain they were holding hostage on a lifeboat. A few days later on Good Friday, a hostage was killed ...
