Mission and Area of Responsibility
The 599th Transportation Group, headquartered in a World War II-era hangar on Wheeler Army Airfield, Hawaii, provides surface deployment and distribution services to meet the nation's objectives throughout, from and to the U.S. Pacific Command theater.
The area of responsibility for the group is 52 percent of the earth's surface, equal to about 105 million square miles. The group has three battalions and two detachments assigned to it, located to strategically support the military's main bases throughout the Pacific.
