MANILA, April 8 (PNA Feature) --- In February this year, the most joyful news for all Filipino people --- particularly for the still living Filipino veterans of World War II and their families -- was the approval by the U.S. Congress and President Barack Obama of a provision on Filipino World War II veterans benefits in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Such law recognizes the military service of Filipino veterans alongside American forces during the Second World War and grants benefit payments of USD15,000 for U.S. citizens and USD9,000 for non-U.S. citizens.
