This paper describes the implementation and benefits of a summer study abroad program in Monterrey, Mexico. Undergraduate elementary education majors teach children in a culturally diverse setting. Language arts and multicultural education courses are taught in conjunction with the intensive early field experience. The program is implemented with the cooperation of the American School Foundation De Monterrey. Students experience the Mexican culture on a first-hand basis. Cited are benefits for the participants regarding cultural awareness and instructional insights.
