Matt Stafford soon could become the Detroit Lions' $75 million man.
The University of Georgia quarterback is widely believed to be top choice in the April 25-26 NFL college player draft and, barring a trade, the Lions have the first pick thanks to their winless 2008 season.
While earning the top selection because of a poor previous season isn't a positive, the excitement created by the drama surrounding the No. 1 pick draft speculation has become a booming industry on the Internet and for cable sports networks typically is used by teams to market themselves to fans and corporate sponsors.
