NORFOLK - Dr. Arthur S. Kaplan, 85, a prominent member of the Norfolk community, died April 14, 2009. Dr. Kaplan was known locally as a physician, a leader in the Jewish, medical and civic community and an avid orchid collector. Dr. Kaplan was born March 4, 1924, in Raleigh, N.C., to Harry and Sara Kaplan and settled in Norfolk after marrying Phyllis Ann Berman.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina and New York Medical College, Dr. Kaplan practiced internal medicine in Norfolk for 40 years before retiring in 1993. He was widely respected for his exceptional clinical skills and known for his caring and devotion to his patients. Many remember fondly his ...
