WASHINGTON, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- BellSouth Corp. (NYSE: BLS) today announced it will ask the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to approve its entry into South Carolina's long-distance market to create jobs, increase choice and bring lower long-distance bills for millions in the state.
BellSouth's first request to enter long-distance will be made September 30 and comes after a unanimous finding July 24 by South Carolina regulators that BellSouth has opened its market to competitors and has met all the checklist requirements of the Telecommunications Act of 1996.
