Sep. 30--Bloomington officials and Thomson Consumer Electronics have completed the equivalent of a divorce settlement.
Under an agreement announced Monday, the company will hand over more than $1 million to ease the impact of the upcoming closing its plant here.
Bloomington Mayor John Fernandez called the agreement part of the "final chapter" in the city's long relationship with Thomson.
The company in February said it would close its Bloomington television plant, which employs 1,300 workers, and its cabinet-making facility in Indianapolis in April 1998. Following a trend in the television industry, Thomson will move those ...
