TOKYO--Oct. 1--San Jose's airport chief is accusing American Airlines of maneuvering to eliminate San Jose's only daily flight to Asia, a move that could inconvenience local travelers and cost the city considerable prestige and economic activity.
"San Jose's sort of been mugged on the deal," Ralph Tonseth, San Jose's director of aviation, told the Mercury News in Tokyo this week, where he is participating in a trade mission led by Mayor Susan Hammer. "It would, in the short term, hurt us terribly."
