THE global credit crunch has put the brakes on corporate bookings for the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix.

However, Bahrain Inter-national Circuit (BIC) chief executive officer Martin Whitaker said yesterday that he hoped they would pick up closer to the event, starting on April 24.

"Though individual bookings are pretty much the same as they were last year, we cannot say the same for the corporates," he said during an event at the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

"Bahrain is at the moment on course to perform better than the two F1 races this year that have already taken place in Australia and Malaysia.
