The 12 main streets of Jeddah will be linked by a monorail under a planned comprehensive system to ease transport in the city, according to Minister of Transport Jabara al Seraisry. Al Seraisry presented the SR21-billion monorail project to Makkah Governor Prince Khaled al Faisal during a meeting at the governor s office here on Tuesday.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that the project will be carried out in three phases. According to a source at the ministry of transport, the monorails will have a speed of 40 to 60 km per hour.
