A State-By-State Guide To Where The Business Is Done
If California's per-capita spending level on music and sound products ($29.06) equaled the level of South Dakota ($50.26), the music products industry would be $675 million, or 12% larger. Conversely, if the per capita spending levels of Arkansas ($9.14) prevailed nationally, industry sales would be less than half the current $5.64 billion level. This little exercise in "what if" graphically illustrates the enormous regional differences in the consumption of music and sound products.
