Richard Betts, MS and Dennis Scholl, partners in the avant-garde wine label Betts and Scholl, have joined forces with long time rose maven and wine industry innovator Charles Bieler (Three Thieves/Rebel Wine Co. and Bieler Pere et Fils) to bring their shared passion for artisan mezcal to fruition. Debuting to key markets across the United States this spring, Sombra (which means shadow' in Spanish) is a complex, smoky single village mezcal made from organically farmed, single variety Espadin agave.
