NEW YORK -- The Gap went to work on the New York Stock Exchange Friday, but the kings of casual overlooked one detail.

Some of the collars on the woven shirts distributed to 3,500 floor personnel did not work well with ties. And even though the Gap and the NYSE declared the day "casual Friday," male traders and other floor personnel still had to observe the NYSE dress code and wear ties with their Gap khakis and shirts.

"The shirts don't seem like they're made to wear with ties," said Thomas Marra of Pershing & Co, who tugged at his collar to make it fit properly. "I purposely ordered extra-large. With that, you notice I have a lot of room and my tie doesn't ...
