Article: Iran Accepts US-Backed Nuclear Fuel Bank Idea.

Visiting Astana, on April 6 Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad welcomed a proposal to set up a global nuclear fuel bank in Kazakhstan as part of a US-backed plan to put all uranium enrichment under strict international control. He said: "We think [Kazakh President] Nursultan Nazarbayev's idea to host a nuclear fuel bank is a very good proposal". He made this remark after talks with Nazarbayev. Iran's support for the idea came as Obama pushed for a "new beginning" in bilateral ties, after decades of mistrust.

It was not clear whether Ahmadi-Nejad's acceptance of the fuel bank idea reflected the position of the Iranian theocracy's Supreme Leader Ayatullah 'Ali ...
