"I'm Lenny Clarke and I'm an alcoholic."
The Boston comic, on stage for a benefit show at Summer Shack recently, wasn't joking around. . "People say, `Don't you care who knows?' No! I don't care who knows that I stole a bus (while drunk) when I ran for mayor of Cambridge in 1976," he told the audience.
Clarke, a regular on the FX series "Rescue Me," is a funny man, but he takes his sobriety seriously. His stint at the Shack microphone was part of a benefit for Arlington rehab and recovery center Right Turn.
