GLIMMERS OF HOPE
* The most recent edition of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland's contribution to the Fed's Beige Book is a little less black than previous reports. In the six-week rundown of the nation's financial condition released April 16, the Cleveland-based Fourth District reported economic activity had held steady since February, with improvements in some areas. The Fed said factory output remained unchanged in the district, with increases in steel shipments by both producers and service centers.
